I've noticed that items sell for a lot less than your inventory tells you they are worth or perhaps the dwarf ripped me off so I would wait to go for the achievement until after you have collected plenty of items. I was able to use this method during Chapter 3 in the Loc Muinne town square. I then simply ran around the town square looting everything and was able to reach 10K Orens by selling what I found.

If you follow the WT you should have around the same amount of currency as I did, so this is an easy place to acquire the 10K and unlock the achievement. Thanks for the solution!
